Two dominant in Jonah Herbert and Joshua Hicks are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Red Mesa Redskins and the Monument Valley Cougars will face off at 5:30 p.m. on January 23rd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Red Mesa has now lost seven straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 28.
Red Mesa suffered their biggest loss since December 14, 2023 on Saturday. They were dealt a 59-24 defeat at the hands of Rock Point. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Red Mesa in their matchups with Rock Point: they've now lost four in a row.
Meanwhile, it may have taken overtime to finish the job, but Monument Valley ultimately got the result they hoped for last Saturday. They secured a 72-67 W over Pinnacle. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Melias Cly continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 27 points. Braxton Goodshield was another key contributor, scoring 19 points.
Red Mesa's loss was their third straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 7-15. As for Monument Valley, their win ended a five-game drought at home and bumped them up to 4-11.
Red Mesa couldn't quite finish off Monument Valley when the teams last played back in January of 2023 and fell 54-52. Thankfully for Red Mesa, Doreon Chee (who scored 26 points) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? Check MaxPreps.com after the match to find out.
