The Dorchester Academy Raiders will venture away from home to face off against the Carolina Academy Bobcats at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Dorchester Academy is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last seven games.
Dorchester Academy is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Saturday. They were the clear victors by a 15-5 margin over Lee Academy. The result was nothing new for the Raiders, who have now won 12 contests by ten runs or more so far this season.
Emery McClure made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed six innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off ten hits. McClure was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ryann Martin, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Another player making a difference was Lily Canady, who went 3-for-5 with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Carolina Academy duked it out with King's Academy on Saturday. The Bobcats walked away with a 7-2 victory over the Lions. The Bobcats have beaten the Lions the last three times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Lions has come to flipping the script.
Raeley Frye spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on five hits and racked up ten Ks. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in nine consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Carlie Anne Smith was excellent, going 2-for-3 with three runs and one stolen base. The team also got some help courtesy of Paisley Coker, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Dorchester Academy pushed their record up to 19-4 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.6 runs over those games. As for Carolina Academy, their record is now 16-8.
Both Dorchester Academy and Carolina Academy just can't seem to miss. The Raiders have been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 8.8 hits per game. However, it's not like Carolina Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 5.3 hits.
