Heritage is 10-0 against Liberty since November of 2015, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Heritage Pioneers will be playing at home against the Liberty Minutemen at 7:00 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Heritage scored first but ultimately less than Rustburg in their game on Friday. They took a 22-16 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Red Devils.
Despite the loss, Heritage saw an underclassman step up: Ayden Slash rushed for 45 yards and a touchdown, and also threw for 139 yards and a touchdown while completing 71.4% of his passes.
Meanwhile, this season hasn't been kind to Liberty, who are still winless after their seventh matchup. They had to suffer through a rough 49-0 loss at the hands of Liberty Christian. While losing is never fun, Liberty can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia football rankings (they are ranked 279th, while Liberty Christian is ranked fourth).
Heritage's defeat dropped their record down to 4-3. As for Liberty, their defeat was their eighth straight at home (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 0-7.
Everything came up roses for Heritage against Liberty in their previous matchup back in October of 2022 as the team secured a 56-0 win. Does Heritage have another victory up their sleeve, or will Liberty turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
