Leflore County went for two in the third quarter quarter against Lumberton on Friday, and the resulting failed attempt cost them the matchup. It could have gone either way late during winning time for Leflore County or Lumberton, but it was Lumberton snatching the 29-28 win. This was a playoff game, so the blow was especially dispiriting for Leflore County.
junior Robert Henry went supernova for Lumberton as he rushed for 121 yards and two TDs on 24 carries. Henry has now produced at least one touchdown in the past three games. Additional support came from defensive powerhouse freshman Da?byron Conerly, who racked up 12 tackles.
The Tigers' overall record now falls to 8-4. The victory was the third in a row for Lumberton and raised their record to 11-3.
Leflore County's playoff loss brings an end to their season. The Panthers will take on Richton in each of the teams' third playoff contest on Friday. The stakes are high as both of those teams are all in, each fighting to extend its postseason success.
