In what's become a running theme this season, the Mitchell Mustangs gave their fans yet another huge win on Monday. Everything went their way against Nature Coast Tech as Mitchell made off with a 51-30 victory. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 38-17.
Priya Jacob continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 14 points and 16 rebounds. She has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last 18 times she's played. Kaylana Little was another key contributor, almost dropping a double-double on 11 points and nine rebounds.
Nature Coast Tech's loss came despite strong showings from Isabella Castillo O and Quintara Norwood. Castillo O scored 19 points, while Norwood scored three points along with six rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Castillo O has scored all season.
Nature Coast Tech struggled to work together and finished the game with only an assist. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Mitchell racked up nine assists.
Mitchell's win bumped their record up to 12-8. As for Nature Coast Tech, they have not been sharp recently as the team's lost six of their last eight games, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-8 record this season.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Mitchell will take on the Bulls at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Wiregrass Ranch focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 26 on Monday. As for Nature Coast Tech, their homestand continues as they prepare to take on the Panthers at 7:30 p.m. on January 23rd. Lecanto presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than the Sharks in Florida (the Panthers are ranked 143rd, while the Sharks are ranked 350th).
