Captain Shreve is 10-0 against Byrd since January of 2019, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Captain Shreve Gators will be playing at home against the Byrd Yellow Jackets at 7:30 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Captain Shreve has four straight victories, Byrd has five straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Captain Shreve stacked a tenth blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Friday. They claimed a resounding 61-32 win over Haughton on the road. Given Captain Shreve's advantage in MaxPreps' Louisiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 46th, while Haughton is ranked 184th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Jyrin Sowell continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 21 points along with five rebounds and four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Ejoshua Mcdonald, who scored 11 points along with six rebounds and two steals.
Byrd suffered their biggest loss since December 7, 2023 on Friday. They suffered a rough 67-42 defeat at the hands of Southwood. Byrd was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 40-16.
Captain Shreve pushed their record up to 17-3 with that win, which was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season. They've been dominating during the contests in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 21.89 points. As for Byrd, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost 11 of their last 12 matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-14 record this season.
Captain Shreve strolled past Byrd in their previous matchup back in February of 2023 by a score of 64-45. Does Captain Shreve have another victory up their sleeve, or will Byrd turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
