Super Bowl LII: Where the Patriots and Eagles went to high school

The New England tight end was a beast on the prep gridiron.

When Super Bowl LII kicks off Sunday in Minneapolis and the New England Patriots take on the Philadelphia Eagles, fans will be watching from around the globe. In hometowns across America and beyond, fans will be rooting for one team or another, but some will be cheering for their hometown heroes. At MaxPreps, we've listed all the players and their prep alma maters.

Here are some fun facts about the game:

• Fifteen players in the Super Bowl played their prep ball in Texas. This is followed by Florida and California with 12, New Jersey with nine and Ohio with eight.

Maryland has four players in the Super Bowl — all of whom are on the Eagles' roster. Pennsylvania also claims four Super Bowl players. Mississippi, Oregon and Alabama each bring three players to Minneapolis for the big game.

States with two players: Georgia, Nevada, Tennessee, North Carolina, Michigan, New York, South Carolina, Louisiana and Virginia.

States with one representative: Arizona, Colorado, Delaware, Hawaii, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota, New Mexico, South Dakota, Washington and Wisconsin. Washington, D.C., and American Samoa each have one player.

• Minnesota's connection to the game (other than hosting the Super Bowl) is Beau Allen, who played high school football at Minnetonka High. The Eagles defensive tackle led the Skippers during his senior season with 84 tackles and six sacks.

• New England players James White and Phillip Dorsett were teammates back in the day at St. Thomas Aquinas. In 2009, White, who has become a Patriots Super Bowl legend, led the Raiders with 979 yards rushing, while Dorsett had 23 catches for 487 yards and five TDs for 13-1 St. Thomas Aquinas. 

• Philly linebacker Najee Goode will try to do what his father, John, couldn't for the Eagles — win a Super Bowl. John Goode played for the Eagles in 1985, a forgettable 7-9 season.
