Austin Sickler and Jack Pfaff did most of the damage at the plate: Sickler went 2-for-4 with one stolen base and two RBI, while Pfaff scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4. Sickler has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Austin Waltemath, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2.
Meanwhile, Golden got themselves on the board against Glenelg Country on Wednesday, but Glenelg Country never followed suit. They were the clear victor by a 12-0 margin over the Dragons. The high-scoring effort was just what the Demons needed considering they were shut out in their previous matchup.
Austin Maleki looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out eight over four innings pitched.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Luca Casali, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with five RBI, three runs, and two doubles. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Andrew Romero, who scored three runs and stole Two bases. while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.
Golden always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .594. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Glenelg Country only posted an OBP of .235.
Golden's victory bumped their record up to 3-1. As for Brighton, their win bumped their record up to 4-0.
Both the two teams just can't seem to miss. Brighton has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 10.8 hits per game. However, it's not like Golden struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 4 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Brighton came up short against Golden in their previous meeting back in March of 2024, falling 4-1. Can Brighton avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
