Lowell is 6-1 against Elkton since April of 2022 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Devils will host the Elks at 4:30 p.m. Lowell has given up an average of 13.8 runs per game this season, but Monday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Having struggled with five defeats in a row, Lowell turned things around against Oakridge on Friday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Warriors 14-13. Considering the Devils' hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.
Marley Plahn made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits. Plahn was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Maddy Thurman was incredible, getting on base in all five of her plate appearances with two stolen bases, five RBI, and three doubles. Another player making a difference was Cheyanne McNamee, who went 2-for-5 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.
Lowell kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in May of 2024.
Meanwhile, Elkton was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their 13th straight loss dating back to last season. They came up short against Yoncalla, falling 28-5.
Amira Harper was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases and three RBI. Neacye Gould also deserves some recognition as she scored her first run of the season.
Elkton's defeat dropped their record down to 0-9. As for Lowell, their win bumped their record up to 4-6.
Lowell took their victory against Elkton in their previous matchup on April 2nd by a conclusive 18-3 score. Will the Devils repeat their success, or do the Elks have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
