The Cuero Gobblers waltzed into Friday's matchup with seven straight wins but they left with eight. They escaped with a win against Wimberley by the margin of a single free throw, 34-33. That's another feather in the cap for Cuero, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Arissa Carbonara was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 18 points and 16 rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which she has scored at least 25% of Cuero's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Aubrey Bowles, who scored 6 points along with 9 rebounds and 5 blocks.
Cuero's win bumped their record up to 12-2. As for Wimberley, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-7.
Cuero will be staying on the road on Saturday to face off against Navarro at 6:00 p.m. on December 2nd. Navarro will be looking to extend their current seven-game winning streak. As for Wimberley, they will be playing at home against Lytle at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday. Lytle is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 58.4 points per game.
