Even though the Winnfield Tigers scored an imposing 58 points on Thursday, the Marksville Tigers still came out on top. Marksville slipped by Winnfield 59-58. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Marksville.
Several Tigers players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Craig St Cyr, who scored 16 points along with 7 rebounds and 3 steals. St Cyr is absolutely dominating the steal category: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaylon Jackson, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 15 rebounds.
Marksville's victory bumped their record up to 6-4. As for Winnfield, their loss dropped their record down to 5-2.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Marksville will square off against Sacred Heart at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Sacred Heart will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Louisiana Rankings (they are ranked 213th, while Marksville is ranked 99th). Winnfield will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against Alexandria at 8:00 p.m. on December 8th. Alexandria knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past three matches -- so hopefully Winnfield likes a good challenge.
