Basketball Recap: Manley's Winning Streak Snapped at 11 Games

It was a good run, but Manley unfortunately witnessed the end of their 11-game winning streak on Saturday. They were beaten by the Clark Eagles 60-21. The defensive woes were uncharacteristic for the Wildcats, who until this matchup were averaging 21.25 points allowed.

Despite the loss, Manley saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Jaklaya Hunter went 10 for 21 on her way to 22 points and six steals. The contest was Hunter's 12th in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ja Von Willis, who posted two points in addition to nine boards and three steals.

Manley's defeat ended a ten-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 13-3. As for Clark, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 6-4 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Manley will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Marine Leadership Academy at 5:00 p.m. on January 22nd. Manley's defense has only allowed 21.2 points per game this season, so Marine Leadership Academy's offense will have their work cut out for them. Clark will also get a bit of a break before their next matchup: they'll face off against Rickover Naval at 5:00 p.m. on January 22nd.
