The Seminole Warhawks will challenge the East Lake Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Seminole barely beat Palm Harbor University the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Warhawks put the hurt on the Hurricanes with a sharp 11-5 victory on Wednesday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Warhawks.
Cooper Walker tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out six over 4.1 innings pitched.
On the hitting side, Seminole let Jackson Fehr and Neil Rothrock run wild. Fehr got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs and one RBI, while Rothrock went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. Those two stolen bases gave Rothrock a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Patrick Mazzei, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.
East Lake came out on top against Hollins on Wednesday thanks in part to the team's impressive 11-run third inning. The Eagles blew past the Royals 12-2. With that win, the Eagles brought their scoring average up to 6.4 runs per game.
The team relied heavily on Brayden Spink, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. That home run was his first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Aiden Sherifi, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBI.
East Lake was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .385. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Hollins only posted a batting average of .077.
Seminole's victory bumped their record up to 13-5. As for East Lake, their win bumped their record up to 13-3.
Seminole's speedy runners might be the difference in Thursday's game. The Warhawks have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.8 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for East Lake, though, as they've been averaging only 1.4 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Seminole continue to outrun the ball?
