On Wednesday, the Meridian Wildcats faced the Ridgeland Titans in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Meridian secured a 54-50 W over Ridgeland. The win was familiar territory for Meridian who now have five in a row.
Ridgeland's loss came despite strong showings from Ebo Wilson and Phil Nelson. Wilson scored 14 points along with nine rebounds, while Nelson scored 13 points along with six rebounds. The match was Nelson's tenth in a row with at least ten points. Josiah Davidson was another key contributor, scoring six points.
Meridian's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-4. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.0 points per game. As for Ridgeland, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-5.
Meridian has the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome Pearl at 7:30 p.m. on January 5, 2024. One thing working in Pearl's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last eight matches. Ridgeland won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Germantown at 1:30 p.m. on December 28th.
