4A Cowapa recap Oct. 3, 2012
The biggest upset of the week belonged to Tillamook, who took down 106th ranked Tillamook, 37-7.
Jeramy Poyer of Astoria ran for the longest rushing play in 4A Cowapa this season against Yamhill-Carlton last week. Poyer scampered for 65 yards on the play and finished with 158 on the day as his team bested the Tigers.
Scappoose's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Taylor Loss threw for 279 and five touchdowns and Paul Revis had 179 yards receiving. On the ground Carson Davison chipped in 162 yards. Kyle Kramer helped Scappoose's passing attack out by catching three balls for 56 yards.
Nick Strange made the biggest impact on defense this week as Astoria beat Yamhill-Carlton. The 6-foot-0 junior pulled down one interception.
Scappoose's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Indians feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Loss has thrown for 1257 yards and 19 touchdowns this season, while Revis has 42 catches for 788 yards. Davison leads the league in rushing with 538 yards.
Two of the top units in the league will face off this week when the Indians take on Ric Stahl's team. Scappoose's offense has scored 207 points this season, good for No. 1 in the league, while the Tigers have allowed only 184 on the year.
A big matchup in 4A Cowapa this week will be when Banks takes on Seaside. The Braves are currently in fourth, while the Seagulls are in first.
Seaside moved up to 97 from 124 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. A 37-7 win over the Cheesemakers helped the Seagulls improve their standing.
