The Maynard Tigers will head out to square off against the Clinton Gaels at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. Maynard is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.2 runs per game this season.
Maynard took a loss when they played away from home on Monday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Wednesday. They put the hurt on Ayer Shirley with a sharp 14-0 victory. The win continues a trend for the Tigers in their matchups with the Panthers: they've now won three in a row.
Ryleigh Raschi made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out six over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 1.1 stolen bases per game.
In other batting news, Elizabeth Schmidt was a standout: she went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in April of 2025. Another player making a difference was Abigail Karlon, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Maynard always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .594. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Lunenburg hit Clinton with a six-run sixth inning on Monday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Gaels came up short against the Blue Knights, falling 10-2. It was the first time this season that the Gaels let down their fans at home.
Clinton's loss dropped their record down to 4-2. As for Maynard, their record is now 6-2.
Everything went Maynard's way against Clinton in their previous meeting back in April, as Maynard made off with a 9-2 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Tigers since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
