Perry/Mount Morris came into their this week averaging 30.4 points per game, but Perry/Mount Morris fell well short of that average, and it cost them. They found themselves the reluctant recipients of an unpleasant 0-33 punch to the gut against Canisteo-Greenwood on Friday. The state rankings had actually given Perry/Mount Morris a slight edge heading into the game, making this hurt that much more.
Senior John Davis was the offensive standout of the match for Canisteo-Greenwood, as he caught passes for 94 yards and picked up 35 yards on the ground. The Canisteo-Greenwood defense stepped up as well to lay out the quarterback five times.
The defeat dropped Perry/Mount Morris' record to 4-2. The win bumped Canisteo-Greenwood's record up to 3-2.
Next week Perry/Mount Morris take on Cuba-Rushford at 7:30 PM. As for Canisteo-Greenwood, they will face off against Pembroke. The team will be hoping to continue their now three-game streak of scoring more points each contest than the last.
