Countryside got their first taste of in-conference action this week and they started things off strong. They breezed by the Pinellas Park Patriots to the tune of 63-34 on Thursday. The Cougars have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven matchups by 20 points or more this season.

Countryside got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Alyssa Wright out in front who went 8 for 9 en route to 17 points and four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Julia Smith, who posted eight points along with ten assists and five steals.

Countryside was working as a unit and finished the game with 28 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since the start of last season.

When it comes to explaining why Pinellas Park lost, don't look at Samarah Abdus-Salaam. Despite the final result, she scored 19 points. The dominant performance gave Abdus-Salaam a new career-high in points. Ja?Naija Roney was another key player, putting up 14 points.

Countryside is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 15-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.0 points per game. As for Pinellas Park, they dropped their record down to 1-14 with the defeat, which was their 12th straight on the road dating back to last season.
