After a string of eight wins, the Bracken Christian Warriors's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They fell just short of Sacred Heart by a score of 81-78. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Friday (64), Bracken Christian still had to take the loss.
Bracken Christian's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ethan Cruz, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and ten rebounds. Wyatt Parsons was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 22 points and 14 rebounds.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Sacred Heart to victory, but perhaps none more so than Nic Angerstein, who dropped a triple-double on 26 points, ten rebounds, and 11 steals. Angerstein is crushing the steal category: he's posted at least eight every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Andrew Steffek, who dropped a double-double on 24 points and 14 rebounds.
Bracken Christian's defeat ended a ten-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 25-7. As for Sacred Heart, they are on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 14 games, which provided a nice bump to their 25-6 record this season.
Bracken Christian will head out on the road to challenge the Saints at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. San Juan Diego Catholic is on a four-game streak of home wins, the Warriors a four-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court. Sacred Heart will take on the Cardinals at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. St. Paul is coming into the contest on a three-game losing streak.
