Southside fell to Riverside 33-8 when the two teams last met in October of last year; this time around, they exacted some revenge. On Friday, Southside narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Riverside 22-20. Having pegged this as anyone's game, the MaxPreps rankings were right on the nose.
The victory makes it two in a row for the Seahawks and bumps their record up to 4-6. Riverside's loss makes it three in a row and drags their record down to 3-7.
Southside has the luxury of staying at home another week and will welcome Northside - Pinetown at 7 p.m. ET next week. Those two teams are tiptoeing into their matchup after sneaking past their previous opponents. As for Riverside, they will face off against Tarboro at 7 p.m. ET. The game looks good for Riverside since they are the big favorites in the MaxPreps rankings.
