North Central AA recap Sept. 26, 2012
Sacred Heart moved up to 48 from 77 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in North Central AA. A 70-20 win over the Knights helped the Knights improve their standing.
Beloit extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Sacred Heart, 70-20. This was the team's fourth consecutive win.
Jesse Boomhower made the biggest impact on defense this week as Russell bested Republic County. The 6-foot-0 senior racked up one sack.
Dylan Walker was the most productive running back in the league this week. In 22 carries, he ran for 211 yards as the Broncos defeated the Buffaloes. Teammate Chase Prester added to the ground attack by rushing for 100 yards.
Sacred Heart's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Knights feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Nick Wuthnow has thrown for 392 yards and four touchdowns this season, while Tate Richards has seven catches for 148 yards. Wuthnow also leads the league in rushing with 260 yards.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Beloit takes on Ellsworth. As it stands, Greg Koenig's team is in first, while the Bearcats are in fourth.
The Trojans were the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from third to first in the league. Beloit beat Bruce Graber's team 70-20 earlier in the week.
