After losing to the Shields Panthers the last time they met, the Hillcrest Jaguars decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. Hillcrest came out on top against Shields by a score of 42-29 on Saturday.
Hillcrest can attribute much of their success to Sonija Evans, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 13 steals. Evans has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times she's played. Khloe Clark was another key contributor, scoring six points along with two steals.
Hillcrest's win bumped their record up to 6-10. As for Shields, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost five of their last six games, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-9 record this season.
Hillcrest will stay at home for another game and welcome Escambia County at 6:00 p.m. on January 15th. As for Shields, they will head out on the road to square off against McKenzie at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. McKenzie is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'.
