The Maplesville Red Devils are on the road again on Friday and play against the John Carroll Catholic Cavaliers at 7:00 p.m. on November 3rd. Maplesville will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Alabama Rankings (they are ranked 303rd, while John Carroll Catholic is ranked 61st).
Maplesville put the finishing touches on their sixth blowout victory of the season on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Verbena 49-0 on the road. The high flying offensive effort was a huge turnaround for Maplesville's six-point performance the game before.
Nehemiah Mccary was the offensive standout of the match as he rushed for 118 yards and two touchdowns on only seven carries. Johnathon Wilson did his part to keep the secondary busy, picking up 114 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Meanwhile, even though Wenonah scored an imposing 35 points on Friday, John Carroll Catholic still came out on top. John Carroll Catholic took down Wenonah 49-35. The victory made it back-to-back wins for John Carroll Catholic.
Their wins bumped Maplesville to 6-3 and John Carroll Catholic to 7-2.
Maplesville lost to John Carroll Catholic on the road by a decisive 28-12 margin in their previous meeting back in October of 2022. Can Maplesville avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
