Meanwhile, after a string of three wins, St. Augustine Catholic's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They ended up on the wrong side of a tough 59-39 walloping at the hands of Benson. St. Augustine Catholic has struggled against Benson recently, as their matchup on Friday was their third consecutive lost matchup.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Lourdes Gamez, who scored eight points along with eight rebounds and six steals. She has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times she's played. Kiersten Ball was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with four steals.
St. Augustine Catholic struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only three offensive rebounds. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Benson pulled down 22 offensive rebounds.
Catalina's defeat was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 1-6. As for St. Augustine Catholic, their loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 3-5.
