Walthill (5-2) and Elba (1-6) take on one another this Friday at 3:00 PM on Walthill's home turf. Walthill has never lost back-to-back, and it wants to keep it that way.
The result of Walthill's previous contest was disheartening but, based on national rankings, not too surprising. It was outplayed 81 - 13 in its contest against Riverside last week. Things were already looking bleak at the break as Walthill was down 63 - 0.
As for Elba, victory was within reach last week, but it ultimately lost 53 - 46 to Heartland Lutheran. Even without the glory of a win, however, senior Gage Oeltjen still made his mark on the game as he earned two touchdowns and 163 yards rushing the ball. Oeltjen was also an imposing presence on the defensive end with 14 tackles. Senior Isaiah West was in the mix too, providing Elba with three touchdowns.
The last time they met, Walthill really took it to Elba, winning 87 - 6. Will Walthill come out on top again? We'll soon find out.
