Galileo proved they can win big last Tuesday (they won by ten) and on Tuesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 7-5 win over the Gateway Gators. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 12-2 last Tuesday.
Hunter Thein made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Thein was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing Two bases. while going 1-for-2.

In other batting news, Diego Gil was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing Three bases. while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. He has become a key player for Galileo: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two stolen bases, but 1-2 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Makoa Lawlor, who went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases and one RBI.
Galileo was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .417. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Gateway only posted a batting average of .261.
Galileo is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 4-2 record this season. Gateway is on a seven-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-5.
Coming up, Galileo will welcome KIPP SF College Prep at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Galileo is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.5 runs per game this season. After both having extra time off, Gateway and San Domenico will dust off their jerseys to face off against one another at 6:30 p.m. on April 11th.
