The Rockledge Raiders fell on hard times earlier this season, but after back-to-back wins it seems like their luck might finally be changing. They put the hurt on Merritt Island with a sharp 33-13 win on Friday. The result was nothing new for Rockledge, who have now won four contests by 20 points or more so far this season.
Rockledge's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Traven Green, who threw for 236 yards and four touchdowns. Lorenzo Bell jr was another key contributor, picking up 130 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Despite the defeat, Merritt Island had strong showings from Shaun Hartman jr, who rushed for 36 yards and a touchdown, and Chris Kelly, who gained 96 total yards and a touchdown.
Rockledge has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 5-3 record this season. As for Merritt Island, their defeat was their third straight on the road (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 5-3.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Rockledge will face off against Eau Gallie at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Eau Gallie is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last three games. As for Merritt Island, they will head out on the road to face off against Satellite at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
