The Cornerstone Charter Cardinals are on the road again on Friday and plays the College Prep & Leadership Academy Royals at 7:30 p.m. on February 9th. Cornerstone Charter will be strutting in after a victory while College Prep & Leadership Academy will be coming in after a defeat.
Winning is just a little bit easier when you work as a team to post seven more assists than your opponent, a fact Cornerstone Charter proved on Tuesday. They claimed a resounding 61-12 win over Millennium on the road. The win was just what Cornerstone Charter needed coming off of a 76-50 defeat in their prior match.
It was another big night for D'Trevion Harris, who dropped a double-double on 31 points and 14 rebounds. Harris is crushing the rebound category: he's posted at least eight every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Tristan Cole, who scored eight points along with five rebounds.
Meanwhile, College Prep & Leadership Academy came up short against Thomasville on Thursday and fell 61-48. While losing is never fun, College Prep & Leadership Academy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 407th, while Thomasville is ranked 198th).
Cornerstone Charter's victory bumped their record up to 7-13. As for College Prep & Leadership Academy, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 14-9 record this season.
Cornerstone Charter was dealt a bruising 75-28 loss at the hands of College Prep & Leadership Academy in their previous matchup back in January. The match was all but decided by halftime, at which point Cornerstone Charter was down 43-12.
