The Wilber-Clatonia Wolverines waltzed into Saturday's matchup with two straight wins but they left with three. They claimed a resounding 63-34 win over Superior at home. With Wilber-Clatonia ahead 36-15 at the half, the match was all but over already.
Carter Skleba was his usual excellent self, going 6 for 9 from beyond the arc en route to 26 points and 5 assists. That makes it two consecutive games in which he has scored at least 25% of Wilber-Clatonia's points. Grant Kuhlmann was another key contributor, scoring 10 points along with 7 rebounds.
Despite the defeat, Superior saw an underclassman step up: Colten Butler scored 18 points. The game was Butler's third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Dayne Clark, who scored 11 points.
Superior struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only three offensive rebounds. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Wilber-Clatonia pulled down ten.
Wilber-Clatonia's win bumped their record up to 3-1. As for Superior, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-3.
Wilber-Clatonia will play host again and welcome Sandy Creek, where tip off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Superior, they will head out on the road to face off against Blue Hill on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Nebraska (Blue Hill is ranked 230th, while Superior is ranked 245th).
