The Richland Colts will look to defend their home court on Thursday against the Wyndmere/Lidgerwood Warbirds at 7:00 p.m. Richland is coming into the contest on a five-game losing streak.
Last Monday, Richland came up short against Northern Cass and fell 57-50. While losing is never fun, Richland can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Dakota basketball rankings (they are ranked 101st, while Northern Cass is ranked 28th).
Richland might have lost, but man, Casyn Syvertsen was a machine: he scored 29 points along with seven rebounds and two blocks. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Syvertsen has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Nick Wulfekuhle, who scored ten points along with two steals.
Meanwhile, Wyndmere/Lidgerwood lost to Hankinson at home by a decisive 66-51 margin on Friday.
Richland's defeat was their third straight at home, which bumped their record down to 2-8. That rough patch can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.3 points per game. As for Wyndmere/Lidgerwood, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-6.
Everything came up roses for Richland against Wyndmere/Lidgerwood in their previous meeting back in February of 2022 as the team secured a 80-53 win. Will Richland repeat their success, or does Wyndmere/Lidgerwood have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
