The Sonora Broncos will be playing in front of their home fans against the Sterling City Eagles at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Given that the pair suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.
Sonora's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They fell to Eldorado 44-38. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Sonora in their matchups with Eldorado: they've now lost five in a row.
Josh Lozano put forth a good effort for the losing side as he scored six points along with eight rebounds and six steals. That's the first time this season that he pulled down eight or more rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Wyatt Killough, who scored 12 points.
Meanwhile, Sterling City pushed their score all the way to 55 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell 65-55 to Christoval. It was the first time this season that Sterling City let down their fans at home.
Sonora's defeat was their fourth straight at home, which bumped their record down to 9-11. As for Sterling City, their defeat ended a seven-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 18-3.
Sonora was dealt a bruising 70-28 loss at the hands of Sterling City in their previous matchup back in February of 2023. The matchup was all but decided by halftime, at which point Sonora was down 36-14.
