The Jacksonville Christian Academy Conquerors and the Southside Christian Warriors will face off at 4:30 p.m. on February 5th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Both teams come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
On Friday, it was close, but Jacksonville Christian Academy sidestepped the Tigers for a 42-40 win.
Nylah Moore was her usual excellent self, scoring 25 points along with three steals. That makes it 13 consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Jacksonville Christian Academy's points. Another player making a difference was Emma Goodson, who scored six points along with five rebounds.
Meanwhile, Southside Christian came into Tuesday's matchup having lost five straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They secured a 27-22 W over Kerr-Vance Academy on Tuesday. The win was just what Southside Christian needed coming off of a 51-18 loss in their prior matchup.
Anna Coley was the offensive standout of the match as she dropped a double-double on ten points and 12 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points she has scored all season.
Jacksonville Christian Academy's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-7. Southside Christian's record now sits at 2-14.
Keep an eye on the arc in Monday's match: Jacksonville Christian Academy have been dynamite from deep this season, having made 37.2% of their threes per game. It's a different story for Southside Christian, though, as they've only made 20.9% of their threes this season. Given Jacksonville Christian Academy's sizable advantage in that area, the Warriors will need to find a way to close that gap.
Jacksonville Christian Academy ended up a good deal behind the Warriors in their previous matchup back in November of 2021, losing 52-35. Thankfully for Jacksonville Christian Academy, Autumn Dixon (who scored 19 points along with eight steals) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
