3A Big South recap Sept. 26, 2012
South Point extended the longest winning streak in 3A Big South this week by beating Huss, 42-7. This was the team's sixth consecutive win.
Crest was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from fourth to second in the league. The Chargers beat Forestview 46-27 earlier in the week.
Kings Mountain's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Jonathan Clark threw for 190 yards and Xavier Johnson had 111 yards receiving. On the ground Dashan Guest chipped in 34 yards. Trevin Torres helped Kings Mountain's passing attack out by catching eight balls for 65 yards.
Kings Mountain's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Mountaineers feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Clark has thrown for 954 yards and three touchdowns this season, while Johnson has 21 catches for 359 yards. Guest leads the league in rushing with 554 yards.
A big matchup in 3A Big South this week will be when Ashbrook takes on South Point. At the moment, the Green Wave are in fifth, while John Devine's team is in first.
