Basketball Recap: Coal Ridge Skates Past Cedaredge with Ease

There's no place like home for Coal Ridge, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Saturday. They claimed a resounding 72-35 win over the Cedaredge Bruins. That 37 point margin sets a new team best for the Titans this season.

Coal Ridge's win on Tuesday was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Diego Gamez, who went 5 of 7 en route to 11 points and eight steals. With that strong performance, Gamez is now averaging an impressive 2.4 steals per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Alex Cornejo, who posted nine points and six assists.

Coal Ridge smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in nine consecutive matchups dating back to last season.

Despite the loss, Cedaredge saw an underclassman step up: freshman Levi Maxey posted nine points.

Coal Ridge has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 4-3 record this season. As for Cedaredge, their defeat was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-5.

Coal Ridge will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Steamboat Springs at 7:00 p.m. on January 9, 2025. After both having extra time off, Cedaredge and Gunnison will shake off the cobwebs and square off against one another at 7:00 p.m. on January 10, 2025.
