The Creekside Seminoles's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their 11th straight loss. They fell 83-75 to Northgate. While losing is never fun, Creekside can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 430th, while Northgate is ranked 156th).
Despite the loss, Creekside had strong showings from Avery Gelsey, who scored 18 points along with four steals, and Amadou Onyia, who scored 20 points along with six steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Gelsey has scored all season.
Creekside bumped their record down to 1-15 with that defeat, which was their eighth straight on the road. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 51.9 points per game. As for Northgate, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 13-6 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Creekside will take on Mays at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Mays knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past seven games -- so hopefully Creekside likes a good challenge. As for Northgate, they will head out on the road to square off against Drew at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
