The Fisher Gators lost against the South Plaquemines Hurricanes back in February of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. Fisher had to suffer through a rough 78-45 loss at the hands of South Plaquemines. Fisher has not had much luck with South Plaquemines recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.
South Plaquemines' success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Kameron Stephenson led the charge by scoring 20 points. Stephenson is trending in the right direction, as he's improved his point production for four games straight. Another player making a difference was Khi Ancar, who scored 18 points.
Fisher has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-9 record this season. As for South Plaquemines, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 12-16.
Fisher won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Lutheran at 5:00 p.m. on February 7th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Louisiana (Lutheran is ranked 398th, while Fisher is ranked 384th). As for South Plaquemines, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Houma Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Houma Christian will roll in looking for their eighth straight victory, something South Plaquemines surely won't give up without a fight.
