The Berkeley Yellowjackets are taking a road trip to square off against the Castro Valley Trojans at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Berkeley will be looking to extend their current seven-game winning streak.
Berkeley is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They never let Tennyson get on the board and left with a 22-0 win on Wednesday. Give the Yellowjackets' pitching crew some credit: that's the team's third straight shutout.
Estella Espinoza made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 11 over five innings pitched. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two hits in six consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two RBI and one run.

In other batting news, Berkeley got a massive performance out of June Shaller, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with five RBI, one run, and one double. Those five RBI gave Shaller a new career-high. Layla Turner also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.
Berkeley kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 5.6 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 contests they've averaged 10.4.
Meanwhile, Castro Valley narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Whitney 3-2.
Miley Snellgrove spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on seven hits.
At the plate, Alanys Robertson was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Alicya Robertson, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one run.
Berkeley's record is now 9-1. As for Castro Valley, their record now sits at 12-3.
Wednesday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Berkeley hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .332. However, it's not like Castro Valley struggles in that department as they've averaged .375. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Berkeley suffered a grim 7-0 defeat to Castro Valley in their previous meeting back in April of 2025. Can the Yellowjackets avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
