Hondo and Bandera are an even 5-5 against one another since February of 2017, but not for long. The Hondo Owls will head out on the road to face off against the Bandera BULLDOGS at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Hondo has struggled recently with three defeats in a row, while Bandera will arrive with four straight victories.
Hondo's 24-10 record from last season is now well into the rear view mirror after another tough outing. They had to suffer through a rough 71-30 loss at the hands of Pleasanton. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Hondo has scored all season.
Meanwhile, Bandera scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They walked away with a 64-54 victory over Devine. With that victory, Bandera brought their scoring average up to 50.5 points per game.
Bandera can attribute much of their success to Cale Barnett, who scored 21 points along with five rebounds. Those 21 points set a new season-high mark for him. The team also got some help courtesy of Corben Gonzales, who scored ten points.
Hondo has not been sharp recently, as they've lost ten of their last 11 contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-13 record this season. As for Bandera, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a massive bump to their 10-6 record this season.
Hondo ended up a good deal behind Bandera in their previous meeting back in December of 2022, losing 71-57. Can Hondo avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
