Softball Recap: Peak to Peak's Win Ends Three-Game Losing Streak on the Road

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Centaurus, Peak to Peak was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Platte Canyon Huskies a 20-0 shutout. With that win, the Pumas brought their scoring average up to 6.2 runs per game.

Karina Lefort made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in September of 2024. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one home run, four runs, and one stolen base. That home run was her first of the season.

In other batting news, Grace Trasky and Peyton Eckert did most of the damage at the plate: Trasky went 2-for-3 with four runs, three RBI, and one triple, while Eckert went 3-for-4 with five RBI, two runs, and one double. That's the most runs Eckert has posted since back in October of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Cindy Woo, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three runs.

Peak to Peak kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are 2-1 when they post 11 or more hits.

Peak to Peak's victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 2-8. As for Platte Canyon, they dropped their record down to 0-2 with the loss, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season.

Coming up, Peak to Peak will square off against Kennedy at 11:00 a.m. on Friday. The Commanders have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 14 runs per game on average), something the Pumas will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Platte Canyon, they are packing up and heading out on the road for their first away game of the season: they will face off against Middle Park at 3:00 p.m. on Friday.
