The Borah Lions will venture away from home to face off against the Middleton Vikings at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
Borah took a loss when they played away from home on Thursday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. Everything went their way against Meridian as they made off with a 9-3 win. The Lions haven't had any issues with the Warriors recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.

Tate Kubena was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out six over six innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Borah is 2-1 when he allows at most three earned runs, but 6-9 otherwise. Kubena was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. That triple marked the first that he hit this season.
In other batting news, Ryan Gross was incredible, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Brady Robinson, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.
Borah hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their strikeout total in three consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, Middleton came tearing into Friday's game with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 4.7 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They put the hurt on the Brave with a sharp 13-1 win. The result was nothing new for the Vikings, who have now won six contests by six runs or more so far this season.
Kellen Viehweg spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on five hits and racked up seven Ks.
At the plate, Jeremiah Keithley and Jedsen Aldrich did most of the damage at the plate: Keithley went 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base, while Aldrich went 2-for-3 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Grady Churchfield was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.
Middleton pushed their record up to 11-3 with the victory, which was their seventh straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.9 runs over those games. As for Borah, their record now sits at 8-10.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Borah has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.8 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Middleton struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.8 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Borah suffered a grim 9-1 defeat to Middleton in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can the Lions avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
