Manatee never got on the board in their matchup last Friday, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against Southeast on Friday. They blew past the Seminoles 42-14. Given the Hurricanes' advantage  in MaxPreps' Florida football rankings (they are ranked 81st, while the Seminoles are ranked 311th) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.
Manatee was led to victory by  Malik Bryant and  Mason Summer.  Bryant rushed for 76 yards and one  score on only six carries, while  Summer rushed for 21 yards and one  touchdown. Those  21  rushing yards gave  Summer a new career-high. Manatee also got help from  J'Kwan Williams, who showed off his sure hands for 83  receiving yards.
 Manatee's run defense was locked in: Southeast could only muster 0.8 yards per carry. The team can thank  Ronin Dangler for the heroic effort on defense: he. Manatee didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 6.2.
 Manatee didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of  Jared Sanders and  Jordyn Lowery. Dangler was another major factor on D,  picking up  a  sack and making eight total tackles (5.0 for loss).
 Southeast's loss  came despite strong showings from  Cornelius Fields and  Tavares Powell.  Fields picked up 120 receiving yards and one  TD, while  Powell gained 36 total yards and a touchdown. Fields really caught the secondary sleeping when he pulled down a catch that went for 72 yards.
The  victory  got Manatee back to even at 1-1. As for Southeast, their loss dropped their record down to an identical 1-1.
 Manatee wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next  match,  a  42-7  defeat against Lowndes on the 5th. As for Southeast, they will have a little extra prep time after the  loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Lakewood Ranch at 7:00  p.m.  on  the 12th.
