After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Altha, Chipley was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. They put the hurt on the Mosley Dolphins with a sharp 22-9 win. Considering the Tigers have won nine matches by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Lauren Waits made a splash while hitting and pitching. She tossed 4.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
In other batting news, Jadyn Pettis and Kenzlee Nelson did most of the damage at the plate: Pettis got on base in four of her six plate appearances with one home run, two stolen bases, and five RBI, while Nelson got on base in four of her six plate appearances with three stolen bases, four runs, and two RBI. Those two stolen bases gave Pettis a new career-high. Julia Mitchell also deserves some recognition as she got her first hit of the season.
Chipley is on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 14 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.2 runs over those games. As for Mosley, their loss was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 5-11.
