Edison extended their winning streak to three on Thursday, bumping them up to 11-7. They blew past the McNair Eagles 19-2. Considering the Vikings have won seven contests by more than seven runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Haylie Berdot and Audriana Leiva were major factors while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Berdot tossed three innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits. Meanwhile, Leiva pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off four hits. At the plate, Berdot went 1-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI, while Leiva went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Jamaiya Wilson was a standout: she went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, four runs, and four RBI. She has been hot recently, having also posted at least one stolen base the last four times she's played. Another player making a difference was Angeleya Miranda, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and four RBI.
Edison kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 20 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least ten hits in four consecutive games.
As for McNair, they dropped their record down to 4-6 with the defeat, which was their third straight on the road. Having soared to a lofty 14 runs in the game before, they couldn't push the score so high this time.
On McNair's side, Emerald Gerardo was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base and one run. Keira Dominguez also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.
We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Edison will challenge rival Franklin at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, McNair is set to square off against their familiar foe Bear Creek at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
