The San Tan Charter Roadrunners extended their postseason success on Thursday against the Camp Verde Cowboys. They claimed a resounding 63-36 victory over the Cowboys on the road. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 42-21.
Zayden Neill was his usual excellent self, rushing for 168 yards and three touchdowns on only 11 carries, while also throwing for 301 yards and two touchdowns while completing 77.3% of his passes. Neill really tore up the turf during one magnificent 75-yard run. Another player making a difference was Cayne Ramiez, who rushed for 120 yards and three touchdowns.
Camp Verde's loss came despite strong showings from Jordan Williams and Tyson Buckley. Williams picked up 118 receiving yards and three touchdowns, while Buckley threw for 270 yards and four touchdowns. Buckley hasn't dropped below three passing touchdowns for 11 straight games.
The victory (which was San Tan Charter's fifth in a row) raised their record to 10-3. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.0 points per game. As for Camp Verde, their loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 9-3.
San Tan Charter will head out on the road to face off against Pima at 6:00 p.m. on November 18th. Pima knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past nine matches -- so hopefully San Tan Charter likes a good challenge. Camp Verde does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
