With a playoff game on the line, the Crown Point Bulldogs rose to the challenge on Friday. They enjoyed a cozy 54-40 win over the Kougars. Winning may never get old, but Crown Point sure is getting used to it with their fourth in a row.
Ava Ziolkowski was her usual excellent self, scoring 27 points along with seven rebounds and three blocks. That makes it ten consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Crown Point's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Gia Gagianas, who scored nine points.
Despite the defeat, Kankakee Valley had strong showings from Olivia Plummer, who scored 15 points along with eight rebounds, and Juliet Starr, who scored nine points along with five steals. Plummer hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for five straight games.
Crown Point's victory bumped their record up to 15-10. As for Kankakee Valley, their loss dropped their record down to 16-10.
Crown Point won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Valparaiso at 6:00 p.m. on February 3rd. Valparaiso will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something Crown Point surely won't give up without a fight. Kankakee Valley does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
