The Nash Central Bulldogs will be playing at home against the Bunn Wildcats at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Nash Central focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 15 on Tuesday.
Last Tuesday, Nash Central escaped with a win against Northern Nash by the margin of a single free throw, 43-42. The victory was just what Nash Central needed coming off of a 57-26 loss in their prior game.
Nash Central's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but JaKayla Gay led the charge by scoring 17 points along with six rebounds and five assists. Gay has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last eight times she's played. Cameron Fate was another key contributor, scoring four points along with 17 rebounds and two steals.
Meanwhile, Bunn's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their fifth straight defeat. They suffered a rough 43-19 defeat at the hands of Southern Nash. Bunn has not had much luck with Southern Nash recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
Despite their loss, Bunn saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Mariely Baez-Hernandez, who scored six points, was perhaps the best of all. The team also got some help courtesy of Mercedes Fowler, who scored five points.
Nash Central's victory bumped their record up to 12-7. As for Bunn, they have not been sharp recently as the team's lost ten of their last 11 matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-18 record this season.
Everything went Nash Central's way against Bunn in their previous matchup back in January as Nash Central made off with a 40-18 victory. Does Nash Central have another victory up their sleeve, or will Bunn turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
