After flying high against the Noble Academy Knights last Tuesday, the Community Baptist Conqueror came back down to earth. Community Baptist took a serious blow against Millers Creek Christian on Friday, falling 49-18. Community Baptist has struggled against Millers Creek Christian recently, as their contest on Friday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
Millers Creek Christian's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Cam Layaou, who scored 17 points along with nine rebounds and five blocks. Layaou is absolutely dominating the block category: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the court this season. Corban Huffman was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with nine rebounds and two steals.
Community Baptist has not been sharp recently, as they've lost eight of their last nine matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-15 record this season. As for Millers Creek Christian, their win bumped their record up to 8-5.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Community Baptist will challenge Guilford Home Educators at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Guilford Home Educators is on a three-game streak of home losses, Community Baptist a nine-game streak of away losses (dating back to last season), but someone's luck is about to change. As for Millers Creek Christian, they will head out on the road to face off against Triad Baptist Christian Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
