Baseball Recap: Robbinsville Takes a Loss

If Robbinsville was riding high fresh off their 14-2 takedown of Hiwassee Dam last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Black Knights fell just short of the Murphy Bulldogs by a score of 4-3 on Tuesday. The Black Knights were not able to make up for their defeat to the Bulldogs from their previous meeting back in May of 2024.

Luke Lovin put in work while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over six innings while giving up four earned runs off eight hits (and only one walk). He has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing two bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

In other batting news, Quinn Jumper was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one stolen base and two RBI. Easton Shuler was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.

With the loss, Robbinsville broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 4-7. As for Murphy, with the victory, they broke their five-game losing streak and moved their record to 3-8.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Robbinsville will venture away from home to face off against Tellico Plains at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Murphy, they will head out to square off against the Black Knights at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
