The Sweetwater Wildcats pushed their score all the way to 60 on Monday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 61-60 to Meigs County. If Sweetwater hoped to take revenge for the 43-41 defeat against they when the teams met, then they were left disappointed.
Sweetwater's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Chris Alford, who scored 23 points along with nine rebounds. Alford is absolutely dominating the point category: he's posted at least 15 every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Campbell Hicks, who scored eight points along with three steals.
Sweetwater's defeat dropped their record down to 8-10. As for Meigs County, their victory bumped their record up to 3-11.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Sweetwater will take on McMinn Central at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Meigs County, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Polk County at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
