The Newington Nor'easters waltzed into their matchup on Wednesday with seven straight wins but they left with eight. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat RHAM 63-34 at home. Newington has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six contests by 20 points or more this season.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Newington to victory, but perhaps none more so than Bela Cucuta, who scored 19 points along with three blocks. Cucuta is absolutely dominating the point category: she's posted at least 15 every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Kendall Miller, who scored 14 points along with five assists and three steals.
Newington pushed their record up to 11-2 with that victory, which was their 15th straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.9 points per game. As for RHAM, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-10 record this season.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Newington will take on Windsor at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Windsor will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Connecticut Rankings (they are ranked 34th, while Newington is ranked third). As for RHAM, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Simsbury at 6:45 p.m.
